Charter Management Organization Description
Matchbook Learning is a national non-profit K-12 school management organization. It believes that online and blended learning provide the best opportunities for students to succeed. Matchbook launched its blended learning turnaround model in 2011 with A.L. Holmes Elementary, a bottom five percent K-8 school and part of Detroit Public Schools. A.L. Holmes was subsequently awarded “Reward School” status by the Michigan DOE based on having a top five percent growth track record over a two-year period. In 2012 and 2013, Matchbook formed partnerships with Brenda Scott Elementary and Burns Elementary, respectively, by working through the Education Achievement Association (EAA) of Michigan. Matchbook will begin to fully manage Merit Preparatory Charter School, located in Newark, New Jersey, in the 2014-15 school year.
