School Overview
Ben Franklin Elementary School in the Indiana Area School District is one of more than 40 schools in the state working with the Pennsylvania Hybrid Learning Institute (PAHLI) to implement blended learning in the state. The PAHLI is an organized group of teachers, administrators and subject-matter experts seeking to create a more student-centered approach to learning. The school is expecting that implementation of blended learning will have a measurable improvement on student achievement and state assessments. As a result of blended learning, the district would like to have measurable individual student growth, engagement and motivation as a result of a more student-centered approach to learning.

Program Model
Program model: Station Rotation
Model description
Second and third-grade classrooms are set up for a three-station in-class rotation and students rotate between the stations at the teacher’s discretion. One station is set up for direct instruction from the teacher, another station is set up for independent and/or collaborative learning, and a third station is set up for online learning. Teachers utilize data to inform instruction by grouping students together based on achievement and targeting students who are struggling with additional teacher-led instruction.
