School Description
Tri-City United High School (TCU) is a public high school located in Tri-City United Public Schools that serves students in grades 9-12 in Montgomery, Minn. When school leaders recognized the need to find alternative methods of educating students who were falling behind or not performing well in the traditional classroom setting, they pulled together a group of teachers, a social worker and a counselor to come up with a solution. The school implemented the Alternative Learning Program for the 2013-14 school year and had 11 students graduate from the program that year.

Model description
Students are required to complete 17 hours of seat time, as well as approximately 65 hours of homework per week. Students work individually on the online coursework required, either in the classroom or remotely. A certified teacher is available in the classroom to work individually with students as a tutor and to answer general questions.
