School Description
The Workshop School is an urban school in Philadelphia that specializes in project-based learning. Its mission is to unleash the creative and intellectual potential of young people to solve the world’s toughest problems. It accomplishes this by organizing its curriculum around projects related to real-world problems rather than subject. Blended learning takes an important role in this curriculum as it allows students to move through material at their own pace and find courses that directly apply to their projects.

Model description
The school day is broken into 3 large blocks of time. The two morning blocks focus on projects, while the afternoon block focuses on building skills and knowledge. During the morning blocks students dedicate their time and effort to discovering and solving real-world problems. During the last block students use technology and online course content to obtain the knowledge necessary to complete their projects. Online learning gives students the ability to chose the courses they need and move through them at their own pace.
