Located in Northeast Iowa, Howard-Winneshiek spreads over 426 miles, serving 1,300 students on campuses in Lime Springs and Cresco. Over the past two years, it has been making drastic changes to its learning model as it has implemented blended learning. In the fall of 2013, every student in K-12 was issued a digital device. K-6 graders received iPads and 7-12 graders received MacBook Airs. In addition, there are two 3D printers in the district and an Apple TV in every classroom. Howard-Winneshiek has been a major part of the educational transformation happening in Iowa and its rate of change has been accelerating quickly.
