School Description
Encompass Academy is a public school in the Oakland Unified School District that serves primarily low-income children in East Oakland. Its slogan, “Starts with Self, is Guided by Families, Engaged in Community, and Rooted in Ancestors,” summarizes the school’s whole-child philosophy. Minh-Tram, the school’s principal, is focused on perfecting the balancing act between building deep relationships with students, families, and the community alongside maintaining a data-driven instruction approach. EnCompass Academy is one of eight schools in the Oakland Unified School District that has received a Rogers Foundation grant to implement blended learning.

Program Model
Program model: Station Rotation
Model description
For its first year piloting blended learning, EnCompass Academy aims to employ blended strategies for at least 30 minutes a day for four days a week in english language arts and math classes. The classroom configuration allows students to rotate between three stations; students may learn via computers, teachers, or other students.
